red socks project

red
socks
project

Red Socks is an initiative of the Townsville Sunrise Rotary Club.   It is about saving lives through the early detection of Prostate Cancer.

In June 2013 long time Club member Denis Denmead PHF, passed away as a result of an aggressive Prostate Cancer illness.  Dennis was born in England and was a devout supporter of the Arsenal Football Club and as a result only wore red socks, which is Arsenal’s primary colour.

The idea of Red Socks is to promote Prostate Cancer awareness and encourage men over 50 years old to visit their doctor for a full prostate check and then recognize them by presenting them with a pair of red socks
