Project
Tahlia
Tahlia, a four-year-old girl with lissencephaly, a rare neurological disorder, causing daily seizures and severely restricting her mobility now has a more comfortable life thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Townsville Sunrise, other Rotary District 9550 clubs, Rotarians, a number of corporate supporters and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Due to this condition, Tahlia will never be able to walk, talk or look after herself and as she grows, caring for her is becoming increasingly difficult for her mother, Cassandra. Cassy a single mum has been caring for Tahlia since birth and whilst on a carers pension she has not been able to afford a suitable vehicle containing a wheelchair lift and wheelchair tie downs to help transport Tahlia safely.

In July 2019, Cassy was gifted a brand new Kia Carnival GLS wagon, modified by Freedom Motors to suit Tahlia’s needs. The vehicle, costing about $50,000 would not have become a reality without the generous contributions of the sponsors and project partners, making a significant difference to the future of Tahlia and her family.
