Townsville Sunrise Involvement

The Rotary Club of Townsville Sunrise supports our youth and fosters the development of the next generation of Rotarians, by supporting the following workshops and Rotary youth programs.

The following Rotary Youth programs are supported and developed by the Rotary Club of Townsville Sunrise.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards [RYLA] is Rotary’s leadership training program for young people between the ages of 19 to 30.

RYLA emphasises leadership, citizenship and personnel growth.

The RYLA Program aims to:

  • Demonstrates Rotary’s respect and concern for our youth;
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders;
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth;
  • Recognise publicly young people who are rendering service to their communit

INTERACT

INTERACT is Rotary International’s service club for young people aged between 12 to 18.  INTERACT Clubs are self-governing and self-supporting operating through and under the guidance of a sponsor Rotary Club.

Membership of INTERACT Clubs varies greatly.  Clubs can be single or mixed gender, large or small drawing membership from a single school or from two or more schools in the same community.

The Rotary Club of Townsville Sunrise is involved with INTERACT in the Townsville region by sponsoring the INTERACT Club of Kirwan High School and previously Saint Margaret Mary’s INTERACT Club.

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment [RYPEN] is a 3 day camp and program for 14 to 17 year boys and girls.

The aim of RYPEN is to communicate to these young people a series of challenges, problems and social experiences which will assist participants in forming their own values and moral standards.  RYPEN also broadens the participants horizons culturally, socially and academically.

National Youth Science Forum

The National Youth Science Forum [NYSF] aims to nature and encourage young Australians to be the next generation of leading scientists and engineers supporting a sustainable future for our nation.  The NYSF offers a growing suite of programs across Australia to develop and expose year 12 science students to study, research and explore future employment in science and engineering.
